I do not have a digital SLR camera, can I still join the tour?
Yes you can still join the tour and you will learn invaluable photographic techniques, however, having a digital SLR or a camera with manual settings will maximise your learning experience.
My photography skill level is very basic, is your photo tour too advanced for me?
Australian Photo Tours are designed to cater to ALL skill levels, from beginner to advanced.
Do I need a portable hard drive for downloads?
We recommend you bring spare memory cards rather than portable hard drives – enough to hold 1500-2000 images.
Will the tour proceed in bad weather?
Yes, the tour will go ahead regardless of weather conditions. Tours are designed for the warmer months in order to minimise the chance of bad weather. One of the skills acquired on our tours is photographing in low light and overcast conditions.
Will I see all the major tourist attractions in the region?
You will see the best tourist attractions based on their photographic potential, however you will not see ALL of the tourist attractions in the region. These tours are not sightseeing tours.
How much time is spent in taking photos?
Short Courses – as often as possible.
One day tours – when not travelling to locations or meal breaks will be generally spent taking photos.
Three day tours – Each day starts at sunrise and finishes at sunset – taking full advantage of the picturesque light at these times.
Do we get any free time?
On our half day and one day tours there is little free time as most time is spent travelling and taking photos. For longer overnight style tours we try to find an hour or two for personal rest and recreation each day.
How much time is spent travelling?
Travelling between locations has been kept to a minimum. Some sections of the journey will be longer than others, in these cases breaks will be taken along the way.
How much money will I need?
Short Courses – are designed between the hours of lunch to dinner and no food or drinks are supplied. There will be opportunity to purchase some snacks or drinks during the course.
One and Three day tours – the price of your tour has been designed to cover all your transport, accommodation and meal expenses. The only extra money you will need is to purchase drinks or for personal shopping.
Is there an age limit?
No there is no age limit for our tours, however, people under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
What is the group size?
Short Courses – group size is minimum 6 – maximum 24
One and Three day tours – group size is minimum 6 – maximum 8.
How is the accommodation set up? Will I be sharing a room?
All participants on the tour will get their own private room in a shared, large, self-contained apartment. Three day tours ONLY.
What type of food will be served?
All main meals and snacks will be supplied. Meals will vary in style as we have sourced the best cuisine available in each region. One and Three day tours ONLY.
Can you cater for special dietary needs?
We will happily cater for any specific dietary requirements. Please make sure you advise us of your needs when you fill in the application form. One and Three day tours ONLY.
How much luggage can I bring?
Short Courses and Day tours you only need your camera bag. For longer overnight style tours, one camera bag and one medium size bag is recommended, plus gum boots or wet weather shoes.
When do I receive confirmation of my booking?
Within 7 days of making your payment.
What if I need to cancel?
Cancellations made within 30 days prior of tour departure will be subject to an administrative fee. lf an alternative tour or date can be re-scheduled no administrative fee will apply if cancellations is made within 30 days prior to tour departure.
